The road crash in Crossmaglen
The road crash in Crossmaglen

Two more deaths on the roads - a young girl killed in a single-car crash in Co Armagh and a Co Antrim father-of-three killed when his motorcycle was involved in a collision in Co Mayo.

The young girl, a student with glittering prospects, went to a party and never came home. The motorcyclist had just gone out for a Sunday afternoon spin on his bike. These were everyday events which ended in tragedy and which will leave an indelible mark of sorrow on both those family circles.

Death on the roads is seldom a pure accident which is totally unavoidable. Without commenting on these two latest tragedies, the point must be made for people to exercise the greatest caution on the road, cut speed and give due attention at all times.
