Let's hope joys of Scrabo Tower are not out of bounds for long

It is unfortunate that Scrabo Tower, a landmark on the Co Down landscape, is to be closed for a considerable period of time during the height of the tourist season. It is an iconic building and popular for those wishing to gain a spectacular view of the area and out into the Irish Sea.

Yet the safety of visitors must be paramount. If there is a health and safety risk because of water getting into the Tower's electrical supply, then that must be rectified before the attraction opens its doors again. However, the remedial work should be carried out as speedily as possible so that visitors can again enter this unique vantage point.
