Madness on M1

It almost – but not quite – beggars belief that our main motorway could be partially closed for 21 hours because a single vehicle went on fire.

For it seems nothing happens very quickly in Northern Ireland, should it be new policies at Stormont or removing the wreckage of a lorry from the M1.

Indeed we wonder if we had not made several calls about the incident to police if the vehicle would still be there. The net result was that thousands of motorists were stuck in traffic jams yesterday quite needlessly. A bit of joined up thinking could have ensured that the road was cleared and traffic allowed to flow normally. Not much to ask, or is it?
