Malachi's personality shone as bright as his racing talent

For a young man at the start of his motorcycle road racing career, Malachi Mitchell-Thomas made a huge impression on a huge number of people through his skill but also through his wonderful personality.

Sadly, he never got to fulfil his potential, dying in a crash at the NW200, but the tributes paid at his funeral yesterday demonstrated the regard in which he was held and the sorrow felt at his passing.

Of course he left sadness in the wake of his untimely death, but this was leavened for his family by the knowledge that he died doing what he loved and was happiest in the weeks and days leading up to that fateful event.
