Mind your language, George, you've got it all wrong
It is perhaps no surprise that a leading figure in the embattled Orange Order, has warned Protestants who attend Irish language classes that this is part of 'the republican agenda'.
This comment has been deservedly condemned by people from all backgrounds, including Linda Ervine who holds Irish classes in unionist east Belfast. It is utterly naïve to suggest that one or other form of language is the prerogative of any party or community.
Culture should not be politicised by anyone, and not least George Chittick, the Orange Grand Master of Belfast, a city which owes its name to its Gaelic origins as Beal Feirste, as do many place names in Northern Ireland.
