More power to hardy souls who defy the elements
In these recent stormy days, with howling winds and lashing rain, it is difficult to leave the house unless dressed in warm, waterproof clothing.
Even the mere thought of going for a dip in the sea, as waves are whipped up over harbour walls and promenades, is enough to send a shiver down most people's spines.
Then spare a thought for those hardy souls who keep going for their daily constitutional into the waters of Newcastle harbour in Co Down.
They say they hardly feel the cold because they go swimming every day.
We'll take their word for that, because there is little chance of most of us following their example. Call us soft if you will, but it is infinitely preferable to being frozen solid.
