It's been branded a sacrilege and murder of a pop classic, but One Direction's version of the Undertones' Teenage Kicks has found surprising backing from two of the original performers of the song.
They take the pragmatic view that the teen sensations are bringing the song to a new audience which is no bad thing.
Others of course want to remember the number in its original purity and are less than charitable of the new version. But at least everyone can agree that whatever the merits of the Comic Relief single, it will raise huge sums of money for deserving charities. Surely we can all get a kick out of that?
