NI food and drink industry shows it's cream of the crop
The Northern Ireland Food and Drink industry is a huge contributor to the local economy. It employs 22,000 people directly and another 78,000 in farming and support services, and generated sales of £4.8bn of local produce last year.
The awards gala held last night in association with this newspaper was a fitting way to pay tribute to the outstanding members of the industry, and there was particular delight in hailing Londonderry as the top hospitality and food destination.
The industry has helped the province to put on its best face for visitors, and through our exports, shown the world the quality of local produce.
