No excuse for abandoning a defenceless puppy in skip

There can be many reasons why someone cannot continue to look after a family pet but there are none for cruelly abandoning a defenceless animal.

Our story today of a little pup being left in a skip at a Tyrone cemetery is unfortunately not an isolated example of animal cruelty.

Thankfully, neither is the humane response of the man who found the pup, nursed it back to health and gave it a home.

His reaction is typical of so many in society, and it demonstrates that most people are prepared to look after pets. If someone can no longer keep a pet, they should seek new owners, not dump the animal to die.
