Saturday the 29th of June, my wife flew to England early, the kids and were going to spend some special time together, all we had to do was wait for the dishwasher repair guy to come and the day was ours. When he didnt turn up till 17:30 the kids were climbing the walls with unspent energy. By the time he left it was coming up to what is normally bedtime. So what I thought, its daddy rules today, we packed them into the car and headed to the beach at Crawfordsburn country park. They started to run along the beach exploring the rocks and shallows pointing out shells and crabs and pulling seaweed and pretending to be sea monsters. The sun was just starting to set and they happened to see a bunch of seagulls on the rocks in the shallows. For the next 45 minutes they proceeded to chase after them every time they landed and i got a few pictures.

'Wee Molly daydreams'

This photograph was taken in Dromantine where I live nearby and have many happy memories. This image is special to me as the child whom is a close neighbour is wearing my childhood dress which I wore many summers ago. I wanted to capture and reflect relaxation time at the start of the child's long summer in which she has all the time in the world to daydream.

Our One Summer's Day photographic competition is back, giving people the opportunity to capture a moment in time in the life of Northern Ireland.

Run in conjunction with the NI Tourist Board, it is Northern Ireland's largest photographic competition, but it is open to everyone from the professional to those who just love to take a snap on their phones.

The idea is to capture the essence of one day. It could be a stunning landscape or simply grandad snoring in his deck-chair in the back garden or the family pet getting up to mischief.

Everyone has an equal chance of having their images published in a special supplement in September. In generations to come people will look at the pictures and know that was how life was here on August 2, 2014.
