Oscar's inspiring

The plight of little Oscar Knox, the Mallusk boy suffering from a rare form of cancer, touched the hearts of tens of thousands of people around the province and, indeed, further afield.

And every one of them will be overjoyed at the news that now the four-year-old seems clear of the disease. His courage and the unstinting efforts of his devoted parents, Leona and Stephen, to raise funds to get him the best possible treatment amazed everyone who came in contact with the family or read about them. Today, we share the hope that the disease has been defeated and that the family who have gone through so much can now enjoy a normal, healthy life. They deserve no less.

Father would be so proud of his twins' charity appeal 

Editor's Viewpoint There are many demands on our charity from deserving causes but it would be a hard heart which is not moved by the appeal by twins Amy and Liam Murray for donations to the Cancer Focus Christmas appeal. Having lost their father Liam to cancer six years ago, they know the value of the services offered by the organisation. Cancer is expected to hit one in two people in the coming years and there will be many households with empty chairs this Christmas...
