Our boxers can strike a real blow in hunt for medals
Northern Ireland's Commonwealth Games campaign has got off to a very slow start with only two medals gained after five days, a silver and a bronze.
For a while yesterday that miserly haul left us trailing the Isle of Man on the medal table and we now look to our boxing team to add some greater lustre to the honours list. Hopefully they and other athletes can show the true value of our local competitors and edge us closer to our record haul of medals the last time the Games were staged in Scotland. There is a considerable way to go to reach that total of 15 or even the 10 gained in Delhi four years ago. Come on boys and girls, and make the province proud.
