Our fabulous Bake Off boy has risen to the occasion
Aerospace engineer Andrew Smyth from Northern Ireland may not have won last night's Great British Bake Off but he can still hold his head high.
Indeed, he was judged to be the winner of the technical section of the final, possibly a reflection of his day job skills, and has done himself and the province proud during the contest. Not only was he the only man in the final but also the youngest contestant and it was only in the last challenge that he was pipped to the winning line. His boyish enthusiasm was a delight throughout the series, which is the last to be screened on the BBC. Will it retain its huge audience on Channel 4 or will it fall flat?
