Perfect weather to serve up a parade of top sports

The inclement weather yesterday was a boon for couch potatoes who were given the perfect excuse to stay indoors and feast on a great day of sport. Pride of place goes to Andy Murray who has gained his second Wimbledon title in decisive fashion and has now established himself as the potential star name of the game as others falter through advancing years or injury.

Lewis Hamilton is already the top man in Formula One and added a fourth British Grand Prix title to his glowing CV, while Portugal pulled off something of a shock at the Euros by winning their first ever major tournament.

If only every day could be like this for sports fans.
