Portrush cash boost is an investment for the future
The announcement that Portrush is to receive £500,000 to enhance the resort ahead of hosting the prestigious Open golf tournament is welcome news.
As anyone who has visited the town in recent years can readily attest, it could do with a facelift if Northern Ireland is to put its best image forward for an event with multi-national appeal. While it is not a huge amount of money - certainly less than was first mooted - it can make a significant difference if spent wisely on projects that make the town look better.
After all, this is an investment for the future - the Open may come here another two times - and could be a fitting legacy of an historic event.
