Puppy Oscar shows urgency of animal cruelty legislation

Our story today about the suffering of the puppy Oscar beggars belief. He was used as bait in a dog fight, and then left to die by the roadside.

Full praise is due to those who rescued him, and who gave him shelter and helped to alleviate his suffering.

This distressing case shows yet again the need for legislation here to deal with animal cruelty, and it is unfortunate that an admirable and much-needed Bill has not been progressed sufficiently.

The pictures of poor Oscar’s suffering must give added impetus to this campaign to protect defenceless animals.
