Radio legend Gerry deserving of hall of fame induction
Gerry Anderson, deservedly if belatedly, is to be inducted posthumously into the Irish radio hall of fame. It was the medium in which he made his reputation and in which he always seemed most comfortable.
His Radio Foyle broadcasts won him legions of fans as he poked fun at what passes for normal life here and he won undying fame for his beloved city by naming it Stroke City given the continuing debate over whether it should be called Londonderry or Derry.
Perhaps, even in death, he can solve another such debate. What about ending the political wrangle over the title of a footbridge in Strabane by naming it after the broadcaster?
