Regions to be cheerful: why Northern Ireland is the happiest in UK
On a more cheerful note, it seems that Northern Ireland is the happiest region in the UK.
Four out of the top five happy spots, as decided by the Office for National Statistics, are in the region.
The one blot on the landscape is Cookstown, where people are said to be anxious.
But the results seem to have left the learned statisticians baffled.
They describe people here as a conundrum, putting on a happy face in spite of high unemployment and other issues. But then the statisticians did not have to live through the Troubles.
Life now seems so much better. And, after all, happiness is just a relative state of mind.
And we also do like to keep people guessing.
