Royal visit always brings a ray of sunshine to province
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge brought a little sunshine, literally and metaphorically, to Northern Ireland yesterday when they attended a garden party at Hillsborough Castle. It was their first trip to the province as a married couple and they were naturally centre of attention for all those present, but most particularly the younger guests.
It was noticeable that security was low-key compared to previous times, but there were indications that terrorism still haunts life here. The family of murdered prison officer Adrian Ismay and Ardoyne priest, Fr Gary Donegan, who has received death threats from dissident republicans were among the guests.
