Shane's plight must focus minds on issue of organ donation

Published 18/03/2016

There is no doubt that Belfast PR executive Shane Finnegan is truly a man in one hundred thousand.

He is making a steady recovery from a kidney transplant operation after doctors found a rare 100,000-1 donor match. These transplants are a miraculous way of saving lives, and it's regrettable that MLA Jo-Ann Dobson's soft opt-out Bill was withdrawn.

However, the alternative is to carry a donor card, and this is a very worthwhile challenge that everyone should take seriously.

Meanwhile, our prayers and best wishes are with Mr Finnegan and his family at this challenging time.
