Northern Ireland's bid to reach the European Championship finals for the first time has really captured the imagination of the footballing public here.

Some 1,500 extra tickets for the crucial match against Greece next week, which could see the team qualify for the tournament in France, were sold out in minutes.

Fans are angry that the game won't be shown on the big screen at City Hall, with the Irish Football Association saying the cost would be prohibitive. But it would be small beer compared to the rewards for the team reaching the finals. Now would be a good time to keep the fans onside.
