Sorry excuse for a Christmas tree shames council

Christmas is a time for spreading the light widely across the darkness. Most families manage to do this very well, but the same cannot be said of all our elected representatives who erect public Christmas trees. One of the worst imaginable is in Ballycastle.

As the pictures in this paper show, their Christmas tree is a sorry sight indeed.

These are cash-strapped times, but town centres and their shoppers need some festive cheer. The council's mismanagement speaks for itself, and the best statement it can make for itself and for everyone is to put up a better tree.
