Star pupil has last laugh after snub by Cambridge

There is no doubt that Constantin Arnscheidt is a very gifted pupil. He was already gaining exceptional A* marks in GCSE mathematics at the age of 11 and then went on to gain the highest marks in the province in GCSE German.

Now, seven years later, further top grades are anticipated in a range of A-Level subjects.

It is therefore baffling why he was turned down by Cambridge University. His talent is blindingly obvious, so much so that he has been accepted by Harvard University in the US. That is an incredible achievement by the 18-year-old Portstewart boy who has honed his gifts with hard work. Credit must also be due to his teachers, who have encouraged him to make the most of his ability and enable him to have the last laugh on Cambridge.
