Survivor's brave story of Nazareth House home is one that should shame Church
It happened in this province in the lifetime of many of us and it is shaming. A young girl grew up in a Catholic-run home and was known only as No 51. She suffered abuse and indignity at the hands of some of the nuns at the Nazareth House home in Belfast. But she survived, found her birth mother who had abandoned her, and proudly bears the name of both her parents. She will also give evidence to the official inquiry into child abuse in Northern Ireland, which will include what happened at Nazareth Lodge.
Read Marie Therese Rogers-Maloney's memoir, For The Sins Of My Mother, and wonder how we let it happen.
