Teen marathon hero Jack Agnew deserves the plaudits

Northern Ireland has many sporting heroes who have added lustre to the province, and they have included people who refuse to allow their physical disabilities from preventing them being successful.

The latest hero is young Jack Agnew, who yesterday won the Under-14 competition in the mini-wheelchair section of the London marathon.

This was a tremendous achievement, and the people of Northern Ireland will be delighted by the success of this Belfast youngster who – against the odds – has given of his very best and has succeeded in such a high-profile sporting event.
