Transplant Games a tribute to miracle of organ donation
After the high profile Commonwealth Games, some even more extraordinary athletes will be taking part this weekend in another national competition, the British Transplant Games.
The 35-strong team from Northern Ireland will include six children and every single competitor will be a testament to the miracle of transplant surgery.
They will demonstrate how the gift of a new organ literally has given them a new life, one which enables them to perform to a level which would have been unthinkable before surgery. We will be cheering them on from the sidelines and we hope that their undoubted successes will encourage more people to become organ donors to give desperately ill people the hope of a full life and bright future.
