Unwelcoming pub deserves to be sent to the doghouse
Taking the dog for a walk has long been a euphemism for going for a pint, but it seems there are some hostelries in this province where man's, or in this instance woman's, best friend is not welcome. Our writer was turned away from one inn where there was certainly no room for dogs inside or outside.
So it is three cheers for the three other publicans who even laid on welcoming bowls of water for the panting pets. In these sparkling summer days, surely pubs should welcome all customers, even four-legged ones, although they might have to drink up in the beer garden rather than at the bar.
