We must counter negative criticism to our tourist sector
TripAdvisor does not set itself up to be a travel bible. The reason is simple; the reviews on its site are those of individual travellers who bring their own prejudices and subjective analyses with them on holiday. As we know, there can be many vastly differing perceptions of the same place.
Nevertheless, the negative reviews of our tourism offering, including service to visitors, needs to be countered. Tourism is an increasingly important part of the economy but it is still developing and, like everywhere else, there are things we might do better. What we cannot change is the wonder of our natural attractions, which are still awe-inspiring.
