Young Tom can go on to golfing greatness, just like Rory
It used to be said that any kid who showed promise on the football field could be the next George Best. Nowadays talented youngsters are more likely to be compared to Rory McIlroy, one of our trio of champion golfers along with Graeme McDowell and Darren Clarke. The latest to be burdened with that label is Tom McKibben (12), who has won two prestigious under-age tournaments in America.
He certainly shows immense promise, but the trick is to turn that potential into success. That will require unstinting work and dedication. He has the right aptitude, so perhaps one day he, too, will be a golfing great.
