A few thoughts for consideration by Alex Attwood, our roads minister. Keep the 'R' plate 45mph restriction as now, but institute a new 'M' plate that would signify that the driver is still a 'rookie', but has completed further tuition on the skills needed for driving at speed.
And, instead of reducing the age at which a licence can be obtained, can I suggest it should be raised to 25 - an age at which hot blood has cooled somewhat?
