A big thank-you from all at Oxfam

Published 20/08/2015

I have been fortunate over the years to see the impact of life-saving work undertaken by humanitarian workers after conflict, famine and natural disaster.

Unfortunately, more people than ever need assistance and the numbers escaping war and conflicts is rising, now standing at nearly 60 million.

World Humanitarian Day yesterday honoured the aid workers who help people caught up in emergencies. But their work wouldn't be possible without the support of people here at home.

If you make a contribution, shop, donate or volunteer at a Oxfam store, then you too are having a positive impact. Contributions like these help fund Oxfam's emergency responses.

To all the inspirational humanitarians in Northern Ireland, on behalf of those who Oxfam works with - thank you.

Jim Clarken

Chief executive of Oxfam Ireland
