Action required now to save 'sick' planet
The famine in South Sudan is a testament of the catastrophic repercussions of human-induced global warming, civil strife, disrupted agriculture, soaring inflation, massive price rises and a crippled economy.
Prince Charles, an ardent and passionate campaigner on climate change, was persuasive in his impassioned call to consider the planet as a sick patient that needs to be treated urgently - and any failure to write the necessary prescription would leave us contemplating its death certificate instead.
The solution lies in our grasp. We should raise awareness about the consequences of heat waves, droughts, melting glaciers, rising sea levels, floods, cyclones, hurricanes, tornadoes and volcanoes.
