Which part of David Cameron's honesty did Peter Robinson and the DUP not like?
You don't need to be a world-class economist, or a political guru to know the public sector in Northern Ireland is too large and the private sector is too small.
In the same way, you don't have to be a genius to work out that savings will have to be made and the public sector is going to be squeezed; therefore Northern Ireland plc will suffer - possibly more than others because we are more reliant on the public sector, but that's the facts.
So why the howls of indignation from the DUP?
Don't they accept the truth anymore? David Cameron has simply told the truth - an uncomfortable truth maybe, but the truth all the same.
If Peter Robinson doesn't agree he should tell us his alternative; he should cost his manifesto pledges and tell us where all the money will come from to maintain Northern Ireland as a Government outdoor relief scheme.
Alternatively, Peter Robinson and the DUP could tell us, since they are the Government of Northern Ireland and are responsible for most, if not all, of the public sector jobs, how they, the DUP, will reduce the massively inflated public sector here.
Northern Ireland does not need more, cheap, meaningless headlines from the DUP, headlines only designed to get votes. Northern Ireland needs leadership.
There will be cuts no matter which party gets elected and Northern Ireland needs leaders who can face that fact and are prepared to take hard decisions.
