Alcohol put before safety with airlines
Thursday, 7 August 2008
There have been several recent flying incidents where passengers, due to alcohol consumption, have become rowdy and aggressive.
No one should underestimate the very real danger that such selfish people pose to the well being of fellow travellers.
With alcohol abuse posing such an obvious danger, why is it that airlines continue to strenuously promote its sale on their aircraft and why is it that passengers are permitted to bring it on board as hand luggage?
Especially when we have a ban on such ‘dangerous’ items as nail clippers in flight, alcohol has potentially much more lethal consequences.
Surely lives not being put at risk are much more important than revenue raised from sales? It is time our airlines reassessed policy on this serious health and safety issue.
