All police should wear a camera

Published 04/04/2016

Following the events at a loyalist band parade on Tuesday, I had my own incident with the PSNI and my children. I made a complaint. I asked the supervisor to check the camera as I knew they would prove my version of events, and was told that none of their cars are fitted with cameras. None.

The officer I dealt with obviously knew she was not being recorded. In turn I followed the incident of the children being pepper sprayed and was shocked that there is also no video of that incident.

For the protection of both the police and the public all officers and vehicles need to be fitted with working cameras. I am sure this would cut down on false complaints and it will protect the person or officer in the right. If our litter wardens can be fitted with cameras so can the police. It is a necessity for everyone's protection.
