Alliance makes a difference to people's lives

I AM writing in reply to Bill Manwaring of the Northern Ireland Conservatives (Write Back, May 28). He does not appear to have been following the news around the Alliance Party's decision to leave the cross-party working group on the Executive's Cohesion, Sharing and Integration (CSI) strategy.

It became apparent that the DUP, Sinn Fein, SDLP and the party that Mr Manwaring left last year, the UUP, weren't interested in delivering something that would see real progress on community relations.

Alliance ministers are delivering in their departments on a shared future.

David Ford, in the Department of Justice, has been able to open gates in peace walls and Stephen Farry, in the Department of Employment and Learning, has put into place measures to ensure that his department will look at the shared future implications of every decision it makes.

Of course, the Northern Ireland Conservatives have not been able to move a shared future forward as they did not get a single politician elected in last year's elections.
