I HAVE just been on the phone to Waste Services in Belfast to ask them to remove my Christmas tree - to be told they will no longer do this.
Neither of the women I spoke to could say who was responsible for this decision, nor the reason.
Neither could put me through to anyone who would take responsibility.
Apparently Belfast rate payers are expected to take their Christmas trees to the nearest recycling centre themselves. I am a senior citizen with a very small car.
I brought my tree at the corner greengrocer and my son and daughter who were home for Christmas carried it home. Now I feel the council has let me down. I look at my seven-foot tree and feel weak. I wonder if any of your readers also feel indignant?
