WE were very sorry to hear of the tapir attack on a mother and daughter at Dublin Zoo.
The tragedy is a further example of people being injured inside captive animal enclosures.
Money would be better spent on programmes to protect wildlife populations in their natural habitats. That is the ultimate salvation for endangered species – not a life sentence in a zoo.
