I, like many, question the judgment of those who use your Letters page to applaud 'brave' Pope Benedict's 'courage' in resigning. We hear so much about the primacy of Christian conscience every time equal rights for gay people are to be opposed, or a woman's right to control her own body.
One can only hope that in retirement, Pope Benedict rediscovers his – having evidently misplaced it some years ago.
