Artistic merit no defence in law

Am I right in understanding Fionola Meredith's article (DebateNI, January 22) to mean that because David Bowie was a great artist his child-sex escapades should be overlooked?

Surely that means the same tolerance should be shown to others who have been convicted for doing the same? Surely wrong is wrong, no matter how "great" a person's career has been?
