Bad manners on bus are wrong

This morning, while taking the bus into town, I counted 16 people with schoolbags or handbags on the seat next to them, while others had to stand. Mainly these were secondary school students, although a few adults were guilty.

It's disappointing to see such bad manners on public transport. After all, everyone taking the bus is either doing so because they don't have a car, driving licence, or can't afford the high cost of petrol.

Surely we would all like two seats to ourselves and more room, but this is not what public transportation is about.

I would urge people to have manners on the bus and, if they see a person standing, to move their bags without being asked.

Better yet, keep your bag at your feet or on the storage shelf at the front of the bus, as you have not paid for two seats.
