Balls' VAT cut is not the answer

Why is our Government convinced that what got us into a recession is going to get us out of it?

Ed Balls thinks that a cut in VAT will help us, but another consumption binge is hardly the thing, now is it?

Now, he's not totally wrong. A VAT cut would, in part, help some businesses based here. Those that make goods that are sold here.

But look at all the items that have VAT and where they come from? It'll be helping out a lot of economies apart from our own.

I would propose a cut in fuel duty instead. Everyone that travels for work would benefit.

Haulage firms would benefit and savings would, in turn, be passed onto goods.
