Banks don't have interest of savers at heart
I HAVE received a letter from the Ulster Bank advising of the new rates of interest on savings. The rates have been radically reduced.
The Ulster Bank sponsors this that and the other. I think that giving an honest rate of interest would be more to the benefit of its savers. The vast majority of the sponsored events will not be attended by the savers. If people are keen enough to attend the events, let them pay the true cost.
I appreciate all banks are taking advantage of their savers.
Many over 60s worked hard to accumulate savings that are now being exploited by ruthless banking systems. At least Dick Turpin wore a mask.
