Paul Lindsay (May 19) describes the disgust felt by many at the booing after races were cancelled at Saturday’s NW200.
I was witness to some of this as I was in the paddock at the time. However, I do think the organisers must shoulder some of the blame. Whose idea was it to have a public bar in the middle of the paddock?
When you walked past the beer tent the smell of alcohol and sight of drunk men was not something I would associate with the NW200 paddock.
If they need the money that
badly they could locate the beer tent away from the paddock and reduce the programme price from £18 to, say £10, making it more affordable to people who are not avid race fans but are on a day out.
