The UN commission of inquiry on Syria said last month that it had "not yet seen evidence of government forces having used chemical weapons". Indications were that rebels – not Assad – used a nerve agent, Sarin.
Now it seems Barack Obama isn't even seeking UN authorisation before escalating the war in Syria.
With reports of al-Qaida among the rebels, it seems contradictory for Obama to be giving any help to anti-Assad forces.
