Basil McCrea stating that dissident republicans are at 97% the capacity of the Provisional IRA during the troubles is absolute madness.
How is Basil McCrea qualified to make such a statement? He is a member of the Policing Board but he does not have full access to intelligence files.
To me this represents a cheap and daft attempt to grab headlines after his failed attempt to take the leadership of the Ulster Unionist Party.
I believe that his comments are totally and utterly incoherent and will only bolster the dissident campaign within the realms of the local media.
I suggest that he would be better leaving such analysis of their capabilities to those in the intelligence services and PSNI.
He has done the dissidents a great service. Well done Basil.
