Basketball fund cuts are a shame

It is disappointing to hear that all funding is to be cut for British basketball for the foreseeable future because they do not have a realistic chance of winning a medal in Rio. I am not really sure what these people expect considering that the current GB National Basketball team was only formed in 2005 so that there would be a team in London.

Why send so many Team GB (and NI) athletes to the Olympics as probably more than half will have no expectations of winning a medal in Rio?
