BBC wastes our cash on Olympic coverage
While I accept that the Olympic Games are widely regarded as the greatest sporting event in the world, I must apologise if I appear curmudgeonly by questioning the need for the supposedly cash-strapped BBC to send 455 staff to Rio.
Given this array of talent, why does the BBC then consider it necessary to provide "local" coverage on top of the network output?
What extra input do "local" presenters such as Stephen Watson bring to enhance our experience of the events? In these days of austerity, whereby all of us are expected to undergo increasing cuts to all manner of services, the BBC enjoys continuing largesse.
Oh, wait. I forgot. It isn't their money they are wasting, it's ours - the licence fee payers'.
