Believing is our own choice

Published 03/09/2009

I find the latest gimmicky message on the noticeboard outside Stormont Presbyterian Church somewhat insulting. It reads: ‘Believer in Nothing and You’ll Fall for Anything’.

This assumes that, if you don’t believe in the Christian God, you’re a bit of a simpleton.

Instead of accepting into adulthood, without question, what I was taught religion-wise as a child, I made, over a period, the independent decision to reject all religions and their supernatural beliefs. In the same way I reject the ‘smarmy’ message referred to.
