Border fence fears are just not based on fact

Published 14/06/2016

The recent scaremongering exercise by Messrs Major and Blair is unreal.

The suggestion that, if the UK exits the EU there will be a Trump-like barrier between the Republic and the North is not based on facts.

If the UK votes to leave the EU, then the Republic will probably make the same decision, so there will be no border barrier.

Already the Dublin PM and farmers in the Republic are stressing that the Republic and its farm exports would suffer more than any other country within the EU if the UK left the EU and the Republic remained.
